Question about English (US)

When watching American Sci-Fi movie, aliens from outerspace are called "Martian" or something. Besides people on the Earth are called "human". I guess it comes from the cosmology baded on the book of Genesis.
For us Japanese native speakers, it sounds weird. Following to political correctness, we should call ourselves "Earthian" or something.
It seems English speakers think humans stand top of the world. Aliens have less wisdom. Human race are higher than Martian, because the God created so. Sometimese we can easily find their arrogance and prejudice in English words.
How do you think about it?
