When someone does something nice , polite or a favor for you the appropriate response is to say thank you. Thank you for holding the door open. Thank you for helping me carry my groceries.Thank you for lending me money till pay day. I appreciate your kindness. I appreciate all you have done for me. But, appreciate can be used I appreciate the way the flowers smell in springtime.
