This is simply an unexpected answer.
Usually, the answer to a joke like this is "an animal that has trait A of a gorilla and trait B of a porcupine" ...in a way that usually incorporates word play.
If there was a gorilla with porcupine quills, everybody would sit really far away from it in the stands. It would be more intimidating and dangerous than your typical gorilla.
There's a tiny bit of word play here, but not in the usual way: You expect to "get" a new animal (with a clever explanation), but instead you "get" a lot of room to yourself in the stands, for obvious reasons.

An imaginary gorilla of this kind, I mean gorilla with porcupine quills, itself tend to shy away from collision play not to get itself injured or hurt. As a result, the distance between the plyers becomes longer and longer, so the field area will expand much more than usual.
Is it possible to enjoy this joke in the way of another understanding of mine as to"you'll have a lot of room at a soccer game"?

Ok. I suppose you can think of it that way. But it’s quite imaginative. As Natives both us4gi and I immediately understood the joke as he explained it. The gorilla is in the audience rather than being a player. Players don’t usually care whether they have room at their own game. It’s spectators who don’t like being packed in so I immediately understood the “having a lot of room.”

Why soccer game, not concert hall? I've been thinking about the intention of the answerer choosing soccer game. There I've tried to find a "go bananas" punchline. Your explanation is clear and understandable, I know, but too a bit of mediocre to appeal to me as a punch line. In the context that the gorilla is in the audience (you're not saying spectator), I would imagine a concert hall. "you'll have a lot of room in a concert hall" is enough.😒
Considering the combination of the imaginary gorilla with porcupine quills and soccer game, I've been looking for the other nonsense, much more offbeat far from our common sense as a punch line. In an ordinary situation it's true that players don’t usually care whether they have room at their own game. But imagine such big fellas (gorilla with porcupine quills) playing soccer, in this silly situation I want a much more hilarious twist. 🤯 I prefer creative thinking.🤩
