If two things are similar, they resemble each other in some way, but they are not identical.
"Alike" may often have that same meaning, but it may also mean 'identical' (usually when used with an extreme intensifier such as "exactly" or "absolutely").
Which means, you cannot have something similar “completely” because they are not identical or exactly the same.
