Context 2: I have a picture of my family and I show it to my friend. My friend looks at this picture and points to a menber of my family, she is wondering whether this menber is my mother or not so she asks me: "Is she your mother?".

1. Is my friend's action (pointing to the member of my family) common/popular when she wanna ask who this member is?
2. Is this question: "Is she your mother?" suitable/correct to my context/ situation above?
