Question about English (US)
Is the word female ever considered disrespectful when it's used to refer to women?
I saw this guy saying not to use it for women because saying "females" is like objectifying and sounds like it means they're animals something like cattle. But there were also some English speakers who didn't agree with him and were like "This is not Twitter", so I'm a bit confused.

I would avoid it. It's typical in African American English but for others, it's a little bit insulting.
To me, it feels biological and not human.

It is okay to use as an adjective (“female doctors”) but it considered a bit rude to use it as a noun (“that female over there”).

it’s disrespectful to me. they go around calling women females, but you never see them calling men males. it’s basically the same as calling women bitches. of course some people aren’t going to agree, because they use that word often and don’t care about how it makes other people feel. actually, i’m pretty sure they enjoy being purposely disrespectful
