Yes “run this card” would be when you give a person your card. It just means “use this card”.
Swipe does refer to the sliding action. Anyone would understand what you mean by that if you said it,though. At the store, for example, they say “swipe your card now” and you just do whatever you do (insert, tap,etc)

Swipe a card is the action of putting the credit card through the reader. “ go ahead and swipe your card”
To run a card is when the computer is reading the card and processing it. Ex: your card was declined, I’ll run it again
Slide a card is not a thing that I know of.

@Lindsey_Strapec thanks!
Can I say "run this card please" when it's not processing a purchasement on thr computer but physically sliding a card across the card reader?
plus, there are a variety of types of card readerst these days(sliding... inserting... even non-contact too)
does the expression "swipe a card" cover all those situations?(can I say "swipe this card instead please" as long as it's a card reader regardless of how reader reads the card?)

@Lindsey_Strapec I see...
It's still a bit confusing that "slide the card" is wrong even though you SLIDE the card through the card reader.... anyways thank you a lot;)
