Question about English (US)
Please correct my writing.
--
You can think of 빙의글 as "a more immersive fan fiction".
It's a kind of fan fiction written in the way you can feel like you yourself are the main character in the story. They leave the name of a protagonist blank or they never address a protagonist by a specific name because the protagonist is supposed to be whomever reads the fiction.
Please correct my writing.

1) I struggled with the usage of a and the. (especially, a kind of fan fiction, the way you can feel, are the main character, of a protagonist blank)
Is my writing all over the place due to the incorrect usage of the articles?
2) Should I have written "They leave the name of a protagonist blank or never address..." rather than "They leave the name of a protagonist blank or [they] never address..."
3) Please correct my overall mistakes.

1) Your writing is pretty good. A tip for articles:
"A" is used before words that start with a consonant.
(eg. a dog, a puppy) (d, g are both consonants therefore we use "a")
"A" is also used when the vowel sound is pronounced differently
(eg. a union) (the alphabet 'u' is pronounced as 'yoo')
"The" is used when the noun is unique.
(eg. The United States of America, The Korean culture is quite unique)
2) Yes you should write it as "they leave the name of THE protagonist blank or never address"
This is because the protagonist is unique here.

Thank you for your answers!
No need to tell me the basics, haha. There're some things about article that native speakers think obvious but non-native english speakers find very hard and take long long time to grasp :)
May I ask some follow-up questions?
I thought there can be multiple protagonists. My logic was.. there are multiple protagonists, and one of them is the character which the reader will think of as herself. The reader wouldn't know which protagonist will be herself before reading it. That's why I chose 'a'. How wrong is my thought-process?
And as for the question 2), let's ignore a and the problem for a sec since that question was not about article.
I was wondering if "they leave the name of the protagonist blank [or they] never address..." always means "they leave the name of the protagonist blank, [if not, they] never address..." and that's why it was improper and I should've written "... the protagonist black or never..." instead.

in a story line protagonist is only one that is the main character and the rest of the characters are addressed as side characters.
we generally use 'a' when something is random
(eg. when i say 'a dog' it could be any dog but when i say 'the dog' it's a specific dog I'm talking about

@MoreToThePoint your thought process was correct haha, but the protagonist can only be one :)

You're right. It turns out how English and Korean view the word protagonist(주인공) is very different haha. Damn, I didn't see that coming. Maybe I should rewrite the whole question and do this again.
I appreciate your help. Thank you :)

also i had a doubt in Korean, if you could help:
how do I know in which situation which number system is used. (ik there's two number systems, the Sino korean and native korean)
- Korean
@breadsy960
There would be no satisfying rule :)
People may give you "native numbers are for counting and sino numbers are for some other things". Yes, that's not totally wrong. But the way I see it, you have to experience every single case of how and when we use which numbers. You'd have to know it by experience, not by "a Korean or a book said so". You'd better admit it! haha

Aah okayy. Thank you so much. Also I'm sorry if I'm being too straightforward but if in the future I have any doubt could I ask you since you're already fluent in English, it'd be easy for me to communicate

No need to be sorry. It's me that has to be sorry :(
I tend to burden myself too much when confronted with a question because the last thing I want is to give the rushed and wrong answer to anyone. So I prefer to answer a question of my choice, not randomly thrown at me. It'd be too much pressure. I always need enough time to think and write an answer before giving one, so just exchanging quick messages on a messenger will work against me as well.
I'm really sorry :)
