Question about English (US)
What do you call the ring / the signal that indicates the beginning and the ending of lessons in school?
I also wonder how long the school breaks last between lessons.

It’s called a bell. And how long the breaks are really depends on which school you go to. My high school, for example, only gave us 10 minute breaks that were called “passing periods”. They were called that because you only had that much time to “pass” from one class to the next. And since our school was so big, the students usually needed every minute to get to their next class (unless it was already close to their previous one).

@CorneliaAdams Yes, “school bell” is also correct, but people usually just say “bell”.
And yes, “the bell rang” is correct as well!
