Question about English (US)
Wow I thought of some questions!
1. I am 19 years old.
2. I am in my 19.
3. I am 19-year-old. or a 19-year-old boy?
4. I am (of?) the same age as you.
5. Youngsters (of?) the same age as me will most likely agree with me.
Which of them are correct? What should I do to revise the unnatural ones?

1 and 4 are natural. For 4, don’t use “of”. The second option for 3 is natural.
2. You could say something like “I am in my 19th year of living”. I would not use this one because it sounds weird. You would only say this if you wanted to say something like “I am in my 6th year of medical school”.
3. you don’t need the first hyphen. Just say “I am a 19 year-old boy.”
5. Don’t use “of” and it sounds natural.

@theGrahamcracker: Ohhhhhh
Thank you!
In China, we have 5 years in a medical school and I am a freshman at a medical university now. Wow you have more than six years! Cool!
And we don't need the first hyphen?! This astonished me greatly! We learned
19-year-old
2-minute-long
3-meter-long
Will the first hyphen be left out in all cases?
Thank you!

@Ignitio60286076 I would. The only part that needs it are the words between the second hyphen. Honestly, this is really small and I doubt you would be marked off if you did use both hyphens, but alive typically seen only the second one.
Also, I don’t know how many years there are for medical school here. I just said that cause it was the first thing that came to my mind. I think we have 4 years of medical school and maybe 2-3 years of residency after a college degree.
hope this helps

I’ve also seen “19 year old” without any hyphens before. Grammatically, you should use a hyphen, but many people don’t
