Question about English (US)
Can "as well as" replace "and?"
Though my teachers taught me the usage that "as well as" is equal to "also," I saw them interchangeable use in some situation.

No. We usually use it in the same situation as "in addition to".

Sometimes but not always. "As well as" implies a close linkage between the two things and emphasizes the (perhaps surprising) fact that you have both. For example, you could say "I have a dog as well as a cat". But it would sound strange to say "I have a house as well as a son".

Thank you. You explain them in another way. It's helpful. : )

"And" and "also" are used much more than "as well as" in spoken English, at least where I'm from.
