I looked it up on Google Translate and I do see “take over”. Take over isn’t exactly the same as take charge. Take over means assume control as in The Nazis took over. Take charge is different—it means to assume responsibility. If a boss takes charge he assumes responsibility usually in a good way. Take over usually has a bad sense to it.
If someone says “you always take charge” with an angry voice you know it means “you’re taking over” and I don’t like it. If the voice isn’t angry and they simply say “could you please take over the meeting for me because I have a phone call” you know it just means “could you assume responsibility and go through the agenda items with staff.”
