@DylanSNW Thank you! That's easy for you to say!
I thought it would be more difficult.
By the way, I made up my own sentence, is that weird?↓
I preparing presents for friends.
I’m glad if you are happy.

@yuki_0228182020 Not weird! Very close!
"I'm preparing presents for friends. I'll be glad if they are happy."
("they" because you want the friends to be happy. "You" sounds like you want someone else to be happy, not the friends.)
- Japanese
@DylanSNW Really? I'm so happy!!! Thank you 😊
I see! So "you" is a bit more impersonal? So you're saying it's more common to use "they" for people you're close to?

@yuki_0228182020 Youはあなたで、Theyは彼らです!話している時、Youは相手の人なんです。この場合には、youを使えば、喜んでくれる人は友達ではないんですので、多分Theyを使い方がいいと思いますね。😁 You want your friends to be happy about the presents, not your conversation partner, right?
- Japanese
@DylanSNW That's right! I want my friends to be happy, not my conversation partners. I forgot to mention that this is what I write in my diary💦.
I guess that makes me "they" because I'm a third party, doesn't it?

@yuki_0228182020 When I write in my diary, I still use "I" for myself! Even as a letter to myself, I am still the first party. But that is my own choice. Some people might use "you" for a diary entry to when writing for themselves. But "they" is for a completely separate party, someone who you are not speaking to, and who won't read your diary entry

@DylanSNW Do you sometimes use "you" when writing in your diary, even when you are writing about yourself? I didn't know that 😳 I guess it's "they" in the diary too! Thanks for letting me know!
