Question about English (US)
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their *character. (Martin Luther King Jr)
Does it make sense in this context if their character is replaced with their characters(plural) ?

@newenglandgenie Thanks a lot as always.
Do you mean "character" always is treated as a singular noun, regarding the core part of what peoples are?
I have another response different from you. It says "Sure. Either way is fine."
Can I have your thoughts? 🤔

Yes, in this sense character is always singular. The Japanese character, the American character.
Martin Luther King Jr was correct with “the content of their character”
