The first sentence would make more sense as "A great number of murders is conducted but people don't believe it."
And as there is more than one murder, it would instead be said as "Murders" (Plural)
"To give one example," can be said, but isn't exactly natural. I find it more common to say "For an example,"
"-- pretended by chance every day." is definitely not correct, "-- are deliberately killed in traffic accidents every day, but it is presented as an accident." seems right to me.
Presented, instead of pretended. Pretended makes sense in this scenario, but grammatically not before "-- by chance"
"Pretended by chance" makes it sound like they randomly happened to pretend.
I hope this helps!

What a great answer! That was very helpful! ^^
May I ask two more question please?
1. Is it wrong if I say "A great number of murders are conducted"?
2. Which place is suitable for inserting "for an example"?

@egoist_E There's nothing exactly wrong on saying conducted, but it depends on the context. Conducted makes it sound like it was all planned, which makes sense for your case, because you mention how the traffic accidents are deliberate. It can also allude that the murders are all happening by the same person, or many people working together, like they are all apart of one case.
I would place the "For an example" as a replacement for "to give one example" in this sentence so it's instead: "Many people in and near this prefecture, for an example, are deliberately--"

Thank you so much for the explanation. :)
Yes, I had intended like that! But I actually tried to ask a different point. The point is "is(singular)" or "are(plural)", which is correct. Sorry for lack of my explanation. ^^;
-->I would place the "For an example" as a replacement for "to give one example"...
I understand! ^^

@egoist_E Oh sorry! I forgot that it said 'is' in the original, but yeah, both are correct depending on the sentence. "Murder is conducted" would be good, but not "Murder are conducted." and same for "Murders are conducted" and not "Murders is conducted"
'Are' always goes after plurals.

Sorry to bother you again.
If "A great number of" is placed in front of "murders", should I use "are"?
Is "A great number of murders are conducted but people don't believe it." correct?
