"tense" = usually used when someone is anxious, or to describe an uncomfortable mood in a room. Can be used with tightenss in the body as well.
Example: She was furious with her
boyfriend, but they weren't speaking to each other. The room felt tense.
My calf muscles are really tense today.
"intense" = Usually when things are CRAZY stressful, or to describe something that was very difficult to accomplish.
Examples:
We had to walk across burning coals, it was intense!!
My workout today was pretty intense, I hit a new personal record!

@forelup Thanks so much for the elaboration! Could you look over this sentence and tell me if it’s natural?
“Three hours is too intense to fulfill all that work. Could you allow me some more time, boss?”
“Three hours is too intense to fulfill all that work. Could you allow me some more time, boss?”
- English (US)
@handsomeish I would not use it in this sentence. It is little unnatural sounding
- Simplified Chinese (China)
@forelup OK. If you already get the meaning, could you rephrase that sentence for me?
- English (US)
@handsomeish Of course! I'm going to give an example on what I would say to MY boss:
"Three hours does not give me enough time to complete that work to the best of my ability. Could you please offer an extension so that this can be completed with the best quality?"
I work in a very corperate work environment, so when talking to MY boss I like to word things very profesionally.
If we were talking about a more causal work environment- say a kitchen- I'd be more blunt haha.
"Three hours isn't enough time for me to do this, can you give me more time please?"

@forelup Thank you so much! We do need to word things professionally sometimes. So that’s awesome!
