Oh… In that context it makes so much more sense. The girl is basically saying she now has a feeling: like a pull. You can imagine it as a guiding instinct. Or a feeling like you have to do something even if you don’t know why. “The feeling now was a pull” doesn’t make much sense until you add “like I was on a leash and being told how to do…” it’s a tricky simplification of words if that makes any sense. Maybe it makes more sense if it was worded as “I had a mysterious and sudden urge to…” or something along those lines.
