it is almost natural in my opinion, i think "eliminate" or "shutdown" would be more natural than "eradicate"

It depends on the situation. If one person is discussing his views with others, you use discussion on, where only his views are mentioned. If you are discussing a subject and everyone gives his or her views then you use to discuss about, where everyone is free to add an opinion into the discussion.

Yes, it’s discussion ABOUT I’ve heard people say “discussion on” but it doesn’t natural to me.
There has been a lot of discussion about whether or not we should shut down nuclear power plants.
Eradicate is not the word you want to use here. Eradicate is used more with “eradicating world hunger”. You shut down a power plant. Eradicate means to put an end to or reduce to nothing.
