Está lloviendo. Necesito unas paraguas/ un paraguas.

Why is the answer ‘un paraguas’?
I thought paraguas are nouns that are plural by default in spelling so it can mean 1 or more than 1.

For this kind of nouns example gafas,
When we are talking about 1, do we use una gafas, una paraguas or we have to use UNAS?
