What is the difference between kore wa [item] desu ka. and [item] wa kore desu ka. ?Feel free to just provide example sentences.

A suspicion I have is that "kore wa [item] desu ka." "Is this a/an [item]?", and that "[item] wa kore desu ka." is "is this the [item]?" but....
