Vocabulary may be very different sometimes, but it is possible with a bit of patience. It's better than trying to communicate in French or German.

But a tourist shouldn't come here and try to communicate ONLY in Spanish, Brazilians wouldn't like it.

Well, actually, no. Not knowing that country's language is quite rude you know? And we can understand just a little parcel of the language, because spanish goes on a very different way, i recommend you to, at least, learn some basic phrases and words in portuguese before coming to Brazil.

Yeah, someone who just speaks Spanish can come to Brazil. Basically, we'll understand, but it's hard for us to speak (if we don't study). So, you should understand Portuguese as well.

We can't speak Spanish but I think it is easy to understand because is very similar to portuguese. I believe that a Spanish speaking can get by here though. But many words in Spanish we can't understand or is a false cognate, so, take care!
