I learn that Robinson's father wanted all the best for his son, thus cared a lot about his future providing him good education, and wanting him to become a lawyer. Does this sound natural?

'I learned that Robinson's father wanted all the best for his son, caring a lot about his future. So he provided his son with a good education, and wanted him to become a lawyer'. 'Robinson' however sounds more like a surname than a first name, so Robinson's father would also be Robinson and... Well, you don't use people's surnames like that.

"Robinson" in this case is a first name, because we're talking about Daniel Defoe's "Robinson Crusoe".
