To "pull" something is extremely casual English. It's a form of verb that essentially means "to perform like" or "to do".
To "pull a Joe Namath" in this case would mean to guarantee a victory. Joe Namath did this prior to his winning Super Bowl appearance in, I believe, 1969, and has been somewhat famous for it ever since.
Another example would be to "pull an all-nighter" (meaning staying up until morning).
