To me, 'sought to' implies that some sort of action has taken place. 'intended to' does not, to me, imply that action to achieve the aim (or do whatever) has taken place.
I sought to find my computer's power supply, but I just couldn't find it.
I intended to book a trip to Japan, but I never got around to it.
Note: I'm sure that in real use the meanings are not as distinct as this explanation.
PS: I randomly saw a video by a youtube personality called 'That Japanese Man Yuta'. Not you, is it? (I realise this is unlikely.)
