Question about English (UK)

First paragraph:
So after many stops we got off at Oval and, already tired from dragging the suitcases (mine was broken and I had to carry it), we decided to go to the closest metro station we saw. We got on the Northern Line and got off at Charing Cross (at that time I wasn't such a big fan of Harry Potter and I didn't know that there was a replica of platform 9 3/4, but I would have taken a photo there). Then we caught the Bakerloo Line.

Second paragraph:
There were only 10 stops left until we would arrive at my aunt and uncle's house. After getting off the metro and having spent a fortune on transport finally we had arrived in Kilburn. Laura wouldn't stop asking if there was much further to go and I was very tired from the journey and a bit annoyed that she wouldn't speak any English seeing as that was one of the objectives of the trip; to learn to speak better English.

After spending hours going round London we arrived at Kilburn Road. For me seeing that house was like seeing water in the desert. Upon arriving at the house we told my aunt and uncle about our experience and then we went to bed. That night we slept like babies / logs.
In spite of that bad experience London is a city I would go to thousands of times if I could, but I would never swap it for Vigo.
