Question about English (UK)
On the other hand, I want to improve my listening skills, because when I have the listening section in class, I cannot keep up very well. However, I want to improve this by practising listening CD attached to the textbook and shadowing it. Also, to be able to listen academic listening, such as lectures, I need to know academic vocablary, thus, I want to make a habit of practising academic words.
I believe that these practices help me to get used to academic listening. Does this sound natural?

A little unnatural
It's is slightly unnatural. Firstly, if you start off with,
'On the other hand...'
...this normally means you have spoken about something already as that term normally comes afterwards. For example,
'One one hand, I like apples. On the other hand, I like oranges.'
So if you are not talking about something else as well you don't have to put, 'on the other hand.' If that is the case the you can just start the sentence off by saying,
'I would like to improve my listening skills because I cannot keep up during the listening section in class.'
The next sentence, in my opinion, can be changed quite a bit as it doesn't flow well with the previous one. You put,
'However, I want to improve this by practising listening CD attached to the textbook and shadowing it.'
For this instance you don't need to use 'however' as it is not necessary because of the previous sentence. You might need to change it so that the words flow a little better. For example,
'I will do this by listening to the CD that comes with the textbook and shadowing its content.'
...or this which follows from the previous sentence,
'I will do this by shadowing the CD that comes with the textbook while I listen to it. This will help me improve my listening skills.'
I'll leave it at that for now as it's a very long message but I hope it helps a little bit! 👍🏼
