Question about Japanese

親にも問題がある気がする.
This one is killing me.
It was translated as:"i think the parents might have something to do with it". It sounds correct to me, but i don't know how the translator came to this "illumination".
Can i consider 2 different phrases?親にも問題がある and 気がする? Or is it 1 big complex phrase?
It doesn't make sense grammatically, i hate when this happens :(.
"I feel like there's a problem with the parents too" - this is how i would translate it.
