The situation of a paradox goes against our logical thinking, expectations or intuition. These are mind boggling questions which sometimes can't even be answered. But it does not mean there is no answer. For example the answer to the chicken or the egg question is: the first bird to lay the chicken egg, was not a chicken. Therefore the egg was first. This holds up if you believe in the evolution theory.
As for irony, a simple way of putting it is that irony usually signals a difference between the appearance of things and reality. In ironic situations (situational irony), actions often hve an effect exactly opposite from what is intended.

A paradox is a situation where things don't add up when you look at them more carefully. For example the time traveling paradox is when you go back in time to kill your father. This would mean you were never born so you could not travel back in time to kill your father. So is your father dead or alive?
Irony is the event of something happening in contrary to what you would expect (most likely in an amusing way). For example you laugh at a person who slipped stepping on a banana peel and the next thing you know, you slipped too.
Hope this helps.

It s kind of hard... paradox is when a question doesn t have an answer, like : who was first, the chicken or the egg?.. while the irony is all about the situation like: Book doesn t like books or you want to buy something that is 40 $ and you have 39$ ..
