Question about English (US)
Okay long story short....I got on the train this morning as it was crowed as usual and I happened to finally got myself a seat after 4 stops! when the train stopped at one of the Brooklyn stations, the man next to me got off the train and a black Latino woman who appeared to be overweighted came and took the man's seat and my left leg was being sat on by this overweighted young lady for more than 5 stops and she just acted like nothing happened as if my leg was part of the seat! So I decided not to make a sound since there were other passengers on the train...about 5 minutes later, the train reached her stop and I said to her nicely that she was sitting on my leg the entire time and I was hoping for an apology....but guess what....she acted as if she was the one who was being sat on and told me to fuck off and said that I am a yellow monkey and gave me a middle finger!
There was a white folk who sat in front of me said that's what they are!!!! I mean are you serious???
What would you do if you were me?

I personally would have gotten off the train. I'm not one who likes confrontation and it was obvious that no matter how much you try to educate them on how racist or disrespectful they were acting, they wouldn't listen and it'd cause a huge scene. And since the situation was uncomfortable for you, it'd have been better to get off and catch a different train or get a taxi or find some other transportation method.

@illy yeah getting off the train and taking a different train would certainly be a nice option but I would be late for work!!!! That only thing that pisses me off is not that she sat on my leg but the thing she said towards other minorities! Does she forget that she is one of the minority groups too???

I'm sorry you had that experience! I agree with illy, I probably would have left the train. But like you said, you'd be late for work so I'd just ignore their comments. It's easier said than done because I'd be soo angry and pissed and I wish I could curse them out but it's always good to be the better person. I'll never, for the life of me, be able to understand these types of people and why they find it necessary to act like that or to say those things. I wish I could educate them but these kinds of people are probably so dead set in their ways it's just not worth anyone's time.
It disappoints me, though, how the most diverse places (especially NYC) end up having the most racist and ignorant people.

Experienced some discrimination before, but it happened in North Dakota, where many locals don't know much about the outside world. They disliked all the people who are different from them. I held an umbrella to block the sun one day...ok I admit it looks weird for American people, but most won't act like the two local farmers sitting on their porch who yelled at me and laughed at me. My Chinese friend also was cursed at on campus by college guys.
Surprisingly I felt discrimination in Hawaii against all non-locals, no matter what of race you are. Again, many people there have the same issue of not knowing much about the outside world. I've met people who had never been outside Hawaii, and never would go anywhere even for vacation.
I thought as people get more educated and see more of the world outside their hometown, they would become more understanding and nicer. Yet from your story in NYC, I'm feeling very disappointed. I hope most people embrace the diversity of the world and don't discriminate.
