Question about Japanese

Is this (grammatically) correct?
我らは単なる過去からの反響である/だ。

Someone suggested "今ここにある私という存在は、単に過去の出来事を反映したものに過ぎない。" as a possible correction, but imho that sentence has a complete different meaning.
I want to keep the meaning/statement "We are just/mere echoes from the past."

もしかしたら「反射」のかわりに「反響」がいいんだろう?
