Hi ! Tous/toutes is used with things you can count, like "tous les français aiment le pain", " toutes les routes mènent à Rome ", " tous les jours", etc. Basically you're talking about all the things from a group (all the french people, all the roads, etc.).
Tout on the contrary is with things you cannot count, like "tout le temps", " tout est fini", "tout va bien". In that case it's harder to translate.
