I just wonder that English native speaker use the construction "It was not until~that..."

Ex.) It was not until I'm happy that I can make others happy.

I think it is "受験英語"(Enlglish that you cannot use practically, using only for entrance exam)
Do you use it in a daily conversation or email or academic situation.....?
