Question about English (US)

What is the difference between My original sentence: Thus, we should act in our community to solve problems. and Corrected sentence: Thus, we should behave in our community to solve problems proactively.?
Feel free to just provide example sentences.

My teacher explains ""act" is correct, but I think this needs to have "proactively" on the end, and it then sounds repetitive."

However, I was not able to understand this. I'd appreciate if someone could explain this.
