Question about English (US)
How is the expression, "2 hours remaining" acceptable? I often see such an expression.
It seems to be the omission from "2 hours is remaining." but I thought that its progressive form was not good so "2 hours remains." was acceptable.
I wonder difference between to be remaining and to remain.

"Two hours remaining" is actually short for "There are two hours remaining," where you are describing the condition. It's like saying, "There are two hours left."
You can also say, "Two hours remain," since that makes "two hours" the subject that "remain" is describing.
