To me, a golden egg is an egg that has a golden shell. The inside could be hollow or another material.
A gold egg could be entirely gold, inside and out, OR the same as a golden egg.
That's how I see it, but others may have different opinions :)
When talking about events like an easter egg hunt, you always say "golden egg", not "gold egg".

@mrshironeko you are right.. Golden is just having that pale/gold color.. But gold is actually gold.. Eg- I've got a golden watch- it means it has gold color but not gold..
