If you are making the minimum amount, you will pay about 15% of your pay in tax. There is also a VAT, which increases the prices of things. That is 20%, but only applies to some things. How much it actually costs you depends on how much you spend, but on a low income I would guess it would be about 10%.

@baranrojava On minimum wage, no, people generally don’t. Then again, you don’t have to pay for health care, and the state does provide some retirement money.
It’s also possible to live more cheaply, for example if you live in a cheaper city and rent somewhere modest. However it is a problem- there is a housing shortage that means housing is much more expensive than it was even twenty years ago.
The average person is earning about twice as much as the minimum wage. Nurses and teachers, for example, make about £20,000 when they start out.
