@vl93: both mean "remember" but 记得 is sometimes more of recalling something already happened than remembering a new thing. 记住 implies the state where something is already remembered (like the perfect tense)
for example,
记住
我记住了！ I have memorised it.
请记住这个号码。Please remember this number.
记得
我记得曾经我也这么做。I can recall I did this in the past too.
你记得吗？ Do you remember?
