Question about English (US)

About 40 years ago, my parents started a new business. It was to recycle old car motors and export them overseas. The idea was brilliant and went well, but later they had very difficult times tackling with the fluctuations of yen-dollar currencies and closed their business.
Now that they are fine, but my mother still has a kind of attachment toward dollars.
So, she found it amusing to earn a bit extra money investing dollars and told me that she felt like she revenges the defeat by that.
does this sound natural?
