Personal is normally used to refer to something that exclusively belongs to a certain person. "Today I'm going to share a personal fear of mine." Or "Is that your personal telephone number, or is that your business number?" Individual, however, is not used to show ownership or relationship. Individual is used to point out each specific thing as its own unit rather than lumping it together with other units in a group. For example, "Did you pull off each individual seed from that strawberry?" Or "Everyone will work individually for this project." (In the last sentence, "individually" is used to point out each member of the group specifically.)
