Question about German

Why does the German translation for "Yes, she sent us a book"

have the verb hast in it when to have isn't in the sentence?

ex.) Ja, sie hast uns ein Buch gesendet

I've noticed when working on sentences for understanding present perfect that this happens a lot with questions that don't have to have in them.
