Do I say 죄송합니다 when I'm about to interrupt someone (etc a staff or a passerby) to ask them something?

I say 죄송한데요 instead of 죄송합니다 because 죄송한데요 means 'I'm sorry but. . ." 죄송합니다 only means 'I'm sorry.' You could also say 말씀 좀 여쭙겠습니다 which sounds very polite
