@shahedaq15 well, it is clear that you have never been in Korea and are trapped into marginal misconceptions. This phenomenon exists, but is seen as vicious. It involves various deviant outcasts in the very bottom of the society. I wonder, what made you interested to dig into this dirt. Why something deviant should be attributed to a specific culture? Meanwhile the function of culture is to form social and moral norms. Korea is rapidly developing and fastchanging meanwhile it remains very conservative in its very core. Conficious norms are intorelant to such things.
Here, in Korean section of HiNatives, there are many arab people asking what do the Koreans think of the arabs or muslims in general. So what they should think after you post questions powered by your ridiculous curiouscity?

@shahedaq15 Prostitution is everywhere you go in the world. There are many people who are in rut. It is by no means unique to our country.

Yeah, there is prostitution in Korea. Kind of thing where it's not talked about a lot but everyone knows it's around. Remember seeing a study that said somewhere around 20% of men had been with a prostitute

@genekvon I was just reading the answers to this question until I came across your outrageous and very aggressive response. I don’t see why you had to bring up the the nationality/religion of the person who asked this question and why you think this question of theres would make people think badly about them? If anything someone would think badly about you. You criticised and accused someone of wanting to know about this culture because they heard about prostitution. I’m shocked you had that assumption because it didn’t even cross my mind when I read it which must mean you have a certain view on the topic or person/nationality. Also you seem disgusted by prostitution which is absurd. I don’t think you should judge people based on their jobs. Some people may not have the money, might be forced of simply enjoy it. You may not agree with it but others may not have the choice or don’t have a problem with it. I don’t see anyone critcising or looking down on your job/future dreams and even if they are they don’t have the right to and you shouldn’t do it either. Several prostitutes suffer from HIVs and AIDs, rape, abuse however can not reach out for help because their job is looked down on or made illegal. However enough about that. I don’t think this question was simply a ‘ridiculous curiosity’ however it was something they wanted to know about to understand the culture more and the people’s ways. People from the country have given their say on the question in a civilized manner and I hope you do the same to without bringing in religion/nationality and blaming one question on the whole religion .
