... Ugh. There is a difference between wish and hope.
Both express a shared desire, however, here are the differences.
A wish is a desire for an outcome regardless of what your belief may be.
You HOPE for a desire usually due to a belief.
Think of it this way to make it easier: "Without belief, there is no hope."
As far as wishes and hope goes? They're just like prayers! Don't count on them coming true!

They mean the same thing, but can be used differently depending on the situation.
"I hope her wish will come true."
Here, hope is used as a verb, while wish is an object.
"I wish my dreams will become reality."
Wish is the verb!
Hope can be used as well :)
"Her hope is slowly fading."
Hope is an object here - not a verb!
It just depends what message you are trying to convey, but they pretty much mean the same thing.

"-Wish- you a merry Christmas" is just that.
Their desire for your holiday is directed towards a goal: Your happiness on that day.
This wish is made without the desire being entirely directed by belief. In other words, wish is "neutral". Hope is "personal".
