Question about Portuguese (Portugal)

Is there a distinct line between European Portuguese and Brasilian Portuguese in terms of vocabulary? I know Portugal uses tu and vós, while Brasil prefers você and vocês, but for example, would I be understood saying abacaxí or ananás? (From what I understand, ananás is in European)
