What is the difference between "It was revealed to be harder than they had originally thought " and "It turned out to be harder than they had originally thought " ?Feel free to just provide example sentences.

pleace tell me the reason why my teacher give me bad scores using "it was reaveaed" term.
(my teacher says" it was revealed" is not used in America
