Question about English (US)

The mayor of a smal city located in western Japan was found innocent yesterday for his bribery allegation. This lawsuit has been very strange from the beginning. There was no hard evidence, no witnesses except for the testimony of the alleged briber, who himself was been indicted for many other crimes at the time. People are suspecting that there had been some plea bargaining between this guy and the prosecution, and the whole case was a setup. does this sound natural?
