I was so sad and I really hoped that the school counselor become a full-time job. Does this sound natural?

By saying "The counselor can be employed at "a" full time job" you are not specifying the counselor job specifically, but it sounds like it can be any job. For example, that the counselor can be employed at a restaurant.
Also, because you started your original sentence with "I "was" so sad", then you should say "I was hoping that the counselor "would have become" employed at full time". Because it has already happened.
You can leave out the "as the school counselor/at the job" part because it is already implied in your sentence that you are referring to the full time position as school counselor.
You can also say "I was hoping that the school counselor would have been hired at full-time".
