It’s talking about multiple stories (“accounts”) of how Cook was killed.
There were apparently non-Hawaiian (European?) stories and Hawaiian stories about how Cook died. They have different explanations. The European (?) stories were recorded before the earliest Hawaiian stories. The Hawaiian stories were recorded long after the European ones.

Well I take Hawaiian history that is required. Cook was killed by the Hawaiians because he took their king and held the king hostage

Thank you for your comment. Yes, the video explained that Cook took hostage and even killed at least one islander by firing a gun.
