When I was in middle school I heard about a game called Pocket Monsters. I started to study Japanese to be able to read the dialogue in Gold and Silver. Is that weird?

I find Japanese culture (like the folklore, etc) interesting, and learning even the basics also makes communication easier, languages are fun! :)

When I was very young, my mother went to japan and brought back some goodies, a tiny yukata and a origami book, and stories from the country. Ever since then I've been interested in learning more. :)

It's absolutely not weird! I've played Pocket Monsters red :) In my home town (it's in the north of Japan), there is a pocket monsters' shop, and always crowded. Thanks for telling me about your story :)

I'm really glad to hear that. Actually wearing yukata is a little bit hard for me, and I can only make tsuru-origami. But I love both of them.

My mom learned Japanese when she was in high school, and I got interested in it enough I wanted to do the same. Once I started learning it, it became my favorite thing to study! Now I study as often as I can, and use it whenever possible.
