The airplane hovered at outer airport from 23:00 on 12 Jan. to 05:00 on 13 Jan. due to adjusted ETA at ABC airport. Does this sound natural?

Airplanes don't "hover" unless they are helicopters or hover-jets.
--> "The airplane *circled the* outer airport..."
--> "The airplane *parked*/*remained* at the outer airport..."
To hover or circle in the air for 6 hours seems wrong, so most likely they were on the ground for 6 hours before whatever happened next.
To "circle" can be used in either case because one can circle in the air or on the ground.
